Bangkok! Day 3 - Wat Pho

After two exhausting days in Bangkok and the Markets we decided to take it easy on our third day. Im not much of a seafood guy and I needed a break from the smells and flavors of the markets so we headed to Station 21.

A huge modern mall about a block north of our hotel. Up on the 5th floor they have a big San Francisco themed food court and cafeteria that I had heard held some good vegetarian food. The cafeteria was massive and had most of the local favorites. This was one of our cheapest meals. We both had 2 fruit smoothies (4 total) and full plates for 180thb or about $5 USD.

Back to the hotel to pack before saying good bye to our swanky hotel and checking into a hostel. Hostels will be our main accommodations for this trip and we've been able to find some nice single rooms for cheap. For our last night in Bangkok we stayed at the Loftel 22 Hostel just south of the Hua Lamphong Railway Station and SE of China Town.

After checking in and a quick nap we took a boat north to Wat Pho! home of the reclining buddha.

For 50 Baht you can get coins that you drop in each of these bowls for good luck.

After walking around for a few hours enjoying the sites and the history of the Temple complex we called it a day and took the boat back to our hotel.

We were able to see some of the workers fixing the statues. The meticulous work of adding small shards of glass was impressive.
